How to Create and Enable SMS Automation?

Automation allows you to build a connection with customers and increase sales through custom text messages triggered by specific events in your customer's journey (e.g., New user join, abandoned payment, etc.). Automations run automatically in the background and are a great way to keep customers engaged.

In this article, you'll learn how to create and enable text message automation in the plexins app.

In the Plexins menu, click on Automation Trigger.

Then click the Create a new button in the Automation trigger menu to begin.

Step1:Choose an automation name.

Give your new SMS automation a name that will remind you of its function – for example, Abandoned payment.

Step 2: Choose the type

There has an event-type list you can choose from. For this example, click the type drop-down arrow and select Abandoned payment.

Step 3. Prepare your message
  • Every type of automation will have templates that you can choose. Click the templates button to select, saving you time and making it easy to spin up new automation.
  • You can personalize your automation even more by using shortcodes that fetch customer information directly, and remember to set up your discount value.

Note: Some mobile carriers require opt-out language in text marketing messages to prevent spam complaints. In order to ensure you stay compliant, the STOP to opt out verbiage (or unsubscribe link for numbers outside the US ) is automatically included in your message.

Make sure you don't delete it by accident before saving your automation. If you do, you can always add it from the checkbox below the text box.

Step 4: Set Delay

You can send your message with a delay from the toggle switch. Type in а number and choose between minutes, hours, and days (e.g., 5 minutes, 2 hours, 1 day, etc.) Keep in mind that the minimum is 5 minutes. Maximum is 7 days. If you prefer to leave it disabled, the automation will be sent out immediately after triggering the event.

And for the abandoned payment, a delayed sending of 30 minutes is recommended to enable, to avoid, high-frequency messages.

Step 5:Set intelligent sending

You can select to enable intelligent sending or not; we recommend you allow it, then the customer who has received a message will not receive the news within x hours again. (e.g.16 or 24 hours, etc.)

Step 6. Test your message

The message preview on the right illustrates your text message's appearance. You can test it yourself by clicking on Send test message and making sure that everything works the way it is supposed to. Remember to always double-check your links and shortcodes!

Step 7: Click on the Submit button to start your new automation.
